BETWEEN THE BURIED AND ME's latest album, "The Parallax: Hypersleep Dialogues", was released on April 12, 2011 via Metal Blade Records. The three-song, 30-minute tour de force was recorded at Canada's Metalworks Studios and Rattlebox Studios and helmed by the Grammy award–winning producer David Bottrill (TOOL, MUSE, KING CRIMSON, DREAM THEATER).
"The Parallax: Hypersleep Dialogues" represents BETWEEN THE BURIED AND ME's musical and conceptual masterwork; the record showcases both the
quintet's vivid execution and ambitious vision. The otherworldly
conceptual thread linking each of the songs is mobilized around two
human characters that live in different planes of existence and are
separated by millions of light years, each confronted with similar
personal issues. Subsequently, both characters make decisions that will
change their lives, and perhaps the course of the universe, forever.
Musically, the release presents aura-rich atmospheres rife with roaring
volumes, corrugated rhythms and trance-inducing intricacies. Cerebral
and visceral, soft and heavy, melodic and abrasive, tender and brutal,
familiar and strange and taut yet sprawling and epic, BETWEEN THE BURIED AND ME has crafted a sound that is musically sophisticated yet primal and a
disc where every new passage leads to the culmination of an epic
adventure.

PERIPHERY Announces New Guitarist
Maryland-based experimental, progressive metal band PERIPHERY has announced the addition of guitarist Mark Holcomb to the group's ranks. Holcomb previously had a project with PERIPHERY axeman Misha Mansoor called HAUNTED SHORES and was the fill-in guitarist on PERIPHERY's "Frak The Gods" tour.
Commented Mansoor: "We are happy to announce that Mark Holcomb will be joining the PERIPHERY ranks as a full-time guitarist! He toured with with us our headlining run of Australia, our 'Frak The Gods' U.S. headliner and our two shows opening for DREAM THEATER and we feel that we have found a perfect fit for us both live and in
the studio. We are extremely excited to have him on board, and can't
wait to show you all the cool new music we have been working on
together!
"Since we made arrangements for the tour before Mark was inducted, our good friend Nolly (RED SEAS FIRE) will be filling in on the European tour opening for DREAM THEATER. However that will be the last tour we do with a fill-in guitarist, as Mark will join on full time after that!"
Added bassist Thomas Murphy: "The most important thing about a band is the chemistry between its members. We've all known Mark for years and are very proud to announce him as our newest member. Not
only is he an amazing writer and guitarist, but also an amazing person.
We can't wait to see what the future holds for the band now that he has
joined."
Stated Holcomb: "I couldn't be more excited as
not only have these guys been great friends of mine for a long time but I consider every last one of them musical siblings in a sense. Each of us brings something different to the table and I can't wait to see what we can accomplish."
PERIPHERY will be direct support for DREAM THEATER throughout Europe from January 23 through February 26.
PERIPHERY released a new EP, "Icarus Lives", on April 19 via Sumerian Records. This CD features a brand new unreleased track, a series of remixes and video clips.
PERIPHERY's self-titled debut album sold around 4,500 copies in the United States
in its first week of release to debut at position No. 128 on the
Billboard 200 chart. The CD landed at No. 2 on the Top New Artist Albums (Heatseekers) chart, which lists the best-selling albums by new and
developing artists, defined as those who have never appeared in the Top
100 of The Billboard 200.

PERIPHERY Parts Ways With Guitarist
"We have some sad news to share. [Guitarist] Alex Bois and PERIPHERY have decided to part ways. This is truly a sad day for PERIPHERY, because Alex has been with us since the beginning, and he is like a brother to us. We're going to do everything we can to make the most out of this unfortunate situation, and soldier on like we always have in the past when faced with setbacks. In regards to all of our upcoming shows and tours, worry not! We will have special guest artists filling in for Alex, so our touring plans will not be changing whatsoever. Throughout all of this, we really appreciate your support and understanding."
PERIPHERY will embark on the "Frak The Gods" headlining tour in September with support from THE HUMAN ABSTRACT, TEXTURES and THE CONTORTIONIST. The trek will kick off on September 2 and will run through October 8. Exact cities and dates will be announced soon.

PERIPHERY: New EP Details Revealed
Maryland-based experimental, progressive metal six-piece PERIPHERY will release a new EP, "Icarus Lives", on April 19 via Sumerian Records. This CD features a brand new unreleased track, a series of remixes and video clips.
Commented bassist Thomas Murphy: "We like to think of ['Icarus Lives'] as a supplement to our first album. It will contain a version of 'Icarus Lives' with newly recorded vocals and the fantastic music video by Ian McFarland and Mike Pecci of Killswitch Productions, alongside several remixes of the song by the band, winner of our 'Icarus' remix contest (Pete Graves from the U.K.) and a special guest to be named at a later date. We have also included a tweaked version of our song 'Jetpacks Was Yes' and the brand new music video by Eric Haviv at FUGO studios. In addition, the songs 'Captain On' and 'Eureka' (available only through digital download until now) will be made available in physical format with newly re-recorded vocals. To sweeten the deal, we have added a new song, 'Frak the Gods', to give our fans a taste of whats to come as we enter the studio later this year to record our second full-length.
"As you can tell, we tried to make this EP worth your time and money. We have put a ton of time into these songs to deliver to you an exciting and polished product."
