THE GENTLE STORM launch
behind-the-scenes video updates

THE DIARY set for release March 24

Arjen Lucassen (Ayreon, Star One, Guilt Machine) & Anneke van Giersbergen (The Gathering, Devin Townsend Project) are set to release the debut album 'The Diary' from their new band The Gentle Storm on March 24, 2015, and in the lead up they have been posting some revealing behind the scenes videos. The latest one sees Anneke talking about Arjen and the vast array of instruments he plays.

You can watch that here:

You can catch the previous updates in this youtube playlist:

A lyric video for the track 'Endless Sea (Storm Version)' was also recently launched and you can see that here: http://youtu.be/iPE3j6Gg_r4

You can also check out the Gentle version of 'Endless Sea' here:

The album concept is a tale of love, loss, and separation told through the story of two fictional seventeenth-century lovers. A Dutch sailor embarks on a two-year voyage, leaving his wife at home in Holland. The only way for the couple to communicate and keep their love alive during the long separation is through letters. These letters form the basis for the songs on the album.

They are also pleased to announce that in advance of The Gentle Storm full band shows, Arjen will join Anneke for a select few European live acoustic dates in what will be quite a rare and special occasion.

Few reviews on Levin Brothers album

"... a hearty portion of tightly cohesive songs that merge the best of Bach with the pace of bop."
      – Ira Kantor's, Elmore Magazine (USA)
"... every single cut qualifies as a standout!"
     –  Peter Thelen', Exposè (USA)
"... This is pure jazz, inspired by the music that the brothers heard in the fifties and came to love."
     – Wolfgang Giese's, RockTimes (Germany)
" ... there is a remarkable purity and innocence to this music. THE LEVIN BROTHERS manages to be both serious and playful without ever losing the passion and edge that comes from pairing two masters of their instruments playing a style of music they both love. A terrific album not just for fans of classic jazz, but for fans of music, period."
      – Jason Warburg, The Daily Vault (USA)
"... a player from the Jazz league has teamed up with one from the Progressive league and they both show just how they can swing. 'Cool' doesn’t come close to fully describing this album."
      – Travis Rogers, Jazz Times Magazine

As a French Horn major, Pete Levin earned a master’s degree from the Juilliard School. In the early ‘70s he switched to keyboards, becoming a synthesizer specialist in the New York City recording studio scene. Over the years, he has graced hundreds of jazz and pop recordings and performances by the likes of Miles Davis, Gil Evans, Jimmy Giuffre, Dave Brubeck, David Sanborn, Joe Louis Walker, Don Elliott, Freddie Hubbard, Annie Lennox, Paul Simon, Brian Ferry, Hiram Bullock, Gerry Mulligan, Chuck Mangione, Charles Mingus, Jaco Pastorius, John Scofield, Wayne Shorter, Dave Stryker, Lenny White, and man y others. He currently leads The Monday Night Orchestra featuring internationally known New York musicians, core alumni members of the seminal freewheeling Grammy-winning Gil Evans Orchestra of the mid and late '70s, reunited recently to celebrate the band's legendary "Monday Night At Sweet Basil" era.

Since graduating from the Eastman School of music, Tony Levin has become the bass and Chapman Stick voice for Peter Gabriel and King Crimson. In addition, he has played on notable recordings for John Lennon, Pink Floyd, Lou Reed, Alice Cooper, Tom Waits, Dire Straits, Carly Simon, Judy Collins, Peter Frampton, James Taylor, Stevie Nicks, Todd Rundgren, Warren Zevon, Anderson Bruford Wakeman Howe, Laurie Anderson, Liquid Tension Experiment, Bruford Levin Upper Extremities, Bozzio Holdsworth Levin Mastelotto and many others. Tony has major jazz credentials, having worked with Buddy Rich, Steps Ahead, L'Image, Gary Burton, Chuck Mangione, Herbie Mann, and many others. He currently records and tours with Peter Gabriel, King Crimson, Stick Men, and The Crimson ProjeKCt.

Recently Tony Levin has recorded two sessions for MoonJune Records for the upcoming albums of the Indonesian guitar icon Dewa Budjana, with Jack DeJohnette on drums and piano and Gary Husband on piano, keyboards and drums.

UK-based band Maybeshewill to see US album release on Superball Music

UK-based band Maybeshewill to see US album release on Superball Music! North American tour to follow

Leicester's Maybeshewill have been plying their unique brand of instrumental post-rock since 2005. With a handful of album, single and EP releases to their credit, and a variety of successful touring jaunts throughout Europe and Asia, the band hasn't yet had an album released in the US. That will change with the February 24th release of their fourth full-length, Fair Youth. This is the band's first album in partnership with Superball Music (home also to Amplifier, And You Will Know Us By the Trail of Dead and Matt Skiba, among others).

The band's video for "In Amber" can be viewed here:

Fair Youth is an overwhelmingly positive record, with the band creating a musical solution to dealing with real world problems and difficulties. It touches on themes of nostalgia and oneirism, and the connections, disconnection and constant feeling of motion that comes with spending so many months of the year on the road.

Band guitarist/keyboardist Jamie Ward took the production helm once again, and this time Maybeshewill vastly expands the pallet of sounds and instruments at their disposal. By working with live instrumentation wherever possible, but also augmenting the real with electronic flourishes, it is simultaneously the most and least organic Maybeshewill record to date.

Fair Youth has been shaped largely by influences from outside the musical world they exist in - from washes of hazy Shoegaze guitars to glitchy Electronica; chopped and screwed Hip-Hop beats to ornate Chamber Pop orchestration, as well as countless other threads coming together. It's the band re-imagined as a larger ensemble - a hundred year old grand piano, string and brass sections, an enormous old drum kit, glockenspiels, vibraphones and a sea of guitars - while still remaining a cohesive whole.

Autumn of 2015 will mark Maybeshewill's live debut in North America, with dates to be announced at a future point in time.

The Tangent announce release of 'A Spark In The Aether - The Music That Died Alone Volume Two'

The Tangent announce release of
'A Spark In The Aether - The Music That Died Alone Volume Two'

InsideOutMusic is pleased to announce that The Tangent will release their eighth studio album 'A Spark In The Aether - The Music That Died Alone Volume Two' on 20th April 2015 in Europe and 21st April 2015 in the US. The band, led by multi-instrumentalist Andy Tillison, is made up of Jonas Reingold (Bass), Theo Travis (Sax & Flute), Luke Machin (Guitar) & Morgan Ă…gren (Drums).

Andy Tillison had this to say: "After all the different things we've done, this time it seemed right to come back to our prog roots and "stock in trade". At the same time we wanted to go somewhere new too, so we travelled to America in our Imaginations. We all hope you'll join us!"

Twelve years, eight studio albums, two live DVDs and tours that have taken them from Moscow to Quebec. Now one of the most enduring third wave progressive rock bands on the scene returns - a band that has never made an album using the same personnel as the previous album. In fact, the same line-up has (to date) never been used twice.

But there are regulars. And some of the favourite regulars are back for the 8th album: Flower Kings bass legend Jonas Reingold; the ever-faithful and gifted Theo Travis, familiar to many from his work with the Steven Wilson band, Gong and Robert Fripp, with his arsenal of wind textures from saxophones to flutes; and the return to the fold of the amazingly talented Luke Machin, a guitar hero for a new generation who can even wow the old generations (and who also fronts his own band, Maschine). And of course there's band leader Andy Tillison (keyboards and vocals), the only member of the band to have played on all the records.

This team is joined by Morgan Ă…gren, Swedish drumming phenomenon who can even count Frank Zappa among his previous jobs (others include, but not limited to, Kaipa, Devin Townsend, and his own acclaimed Mats/Morgan Band). Morgan introduces to The Tangent a real live energy full of inspiration and eccentricity.

The new album is a Rock Album. It's a Prog album. It's a Funky album. It's a Pop album. It's the Eighth Tangent album.

John Wesley begins work on next album; end of year polls revealed

Last year John Wesley released his latest album Disconnect to a brilliant reception, and he is pleased to announce he is now working on its follow-up. He comments:

"I have begun sorting through ideas and direction for the next album and have started the process of writing pieces that will come together to form the basis for the album. I will be using much of the same team that recorded the last album and hope to begin actual tracking in the late spring early summer. Until then I will be doing shows in and around Florida and hopefully start working some of the new ideas out in the live set."

John has been receiving a lot of love in the end of year polls, being voted into Prog Magazine's Critics Choice Albums of the Year, as well as one of their top guitarists in the reader's poll.

You can check out an interview with John about Disconnect and his career over at Innerviews here: http://www.innerviews.org/inner/wesley.html
